Salaries and social charges

SMIG and SMAG

Industry: The guaranteed minimum wage (SMIG) applicable from 1 / 07/2008 is: DH 10.14 / hour. (Source: Statistical Yearbook of Morocco HCP-2009).

Agriculture: The Guaranteed Minimum Agricultural Wage (SMAG) is Dh 52.50 the day. (Source: Statistical Yearbook of Morocco HCP-2009).

WORKING HOURS

Industry: 8 hours / day, 48 hours / week, 2496 hours / year. (The new Labour Code provides for 44h/week or 2288 hours per year) *

Overtime: Wages plus:

- 25% between 5 am and 22 pm;

- 50% between 22 am and 5 pm

The rates are doubled rest days and holidays.

According to the labour regulations, a worker is entitled to a weekly rest of at least 24 consecutive hours.

Agriculture: 2700 hours annually distributed as follows:

- 10 h / day from 01 April to 30 September

- 8 h / day from October 1 to March 31.

Overtime: Wages plus:

- 1/6th day of the daily wage;

- 1/5th of the daily wage at night.

AVERAGE SALARIES

The wages are discussed freely between employers and employees.

-Unskilled-laborer: 8.78 to 9.35 DH / hour

-Specialist worker: DH 9.30 to 10.45 / hour

-Semi-skilled worker: 10.40 to 10.83 DH / hour

-Skilled worker: 12.04 to 12.98 DH / hour

-Leader: 14.85 to 16.77 DH / hour

-Foreman-2 750-3 630 DH / month

-Engineers and managers-6 600-11 000 DH / month

To wage these costs, which vary depending on the branch of industry, social security contributions are added. These are in the order of 17% of the gross monthly salary.

SOCIAL SECURITY CONTRIBUTIONS

The Professional Training Tax: 1.6% of gross salary

The contribution to the CNSS:

-Family benefits: 7.5% of the gross monthly salary;

-Short-term benefits: 1.00% (0.33% share of wages, employer's share 0.67%);

-Long-term benefits: 11.89% (3.96% share of wages, employer's share 7.93%.)

The contributions provided for benefits in the short and long term are calculated on the basis of a gross monthly salary capped at 6000 Dirhams.

OTHER CHARGES

Paid annual leave:

- 1 and a half days working per month / 2 days per month for workers aged under 18;

- Legal Holidays: 13 paid legal holidays.

THE DIFFERENT WAYS OF RECRUITMENT

Recruitment can be:

-Made directly by the Company;

-Made by means of recruitment agencies;

-Facilitated by the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills which has a database of candidates and that can carry out the screening of these candidates for recruitment, according to the criteria defined by the Company.

SUPPORT FOR JOB CREATION

contract of "insertion" proposed by ANAPEC that allows exemption from social security contributions for 18 months of internship plus one additional year in case of hiring the intern. This contract is paid at between 1600 DH and 4500 DH.

Advantage:

• Exemption from social security contributions for the 18 months of internship;

• Possibility of breach of contract without special conditions;

• In case of hiring the intern at the end or during the internship, exemption for another year;

Eligibility criteria:

• Young graduates aged less than 35 and who have at least a baccalaureate

• Membership in the CNSS.

Transport

Road haulage

The basic rate per ton per kilometer is set at 0.40 Dhs. This rate may be changed according to the distances and condition of the roads to be taken.

Air transport

The rate of air cargo shall be fixed on departure from Casablanca depending on the nature, weight and destination of the goods.

In addition to the rates paid, the exporter must cover the costs relating to air transport services (handling and registration costs) their rates are fixed as follows:

0 - 45 Kg : 100 DH/Kg

46 - 100 Kg : 125 DH/Kg

101 - 250 Kg : 150 DH/Kg

251 - 500 Kg : 185 DH/Kg

501 - 1000 Kg : 240 DH/Kg

1001 - 2500 Kg : 340 DH/Kg

+ 2500 Kg : 0,20DH/Kg

Rail transport

The rates for carriage of goods by low speed full load range from 0.269 DH to 0.404 DH per tonne. These prices are in addition to VAT and a fixed fee.

The fixed fee, is set in the terms and conditions of application of the general High Speed (GV) and low speed (PV) rates, are fixed at:

• 12.75 dirhams per tonne for shipments per carload;

• 25.51 dirhams per tonne for shipments of retail goods;

The cost of rail transport depends on the nature of the goods and delivery times. Thus, the ONCF (Office National des Chemins de Fer) has set 4 price lists (HT) per tonne per kilometre according to the mode of transport adopted:

• Express fast transport for perishable goods: 0.404 DH / T / Km

• Standard fast transport: 0.364 DH / T / Km

• Standard transport: 0.312 DH / T / Km

• Low speed transport: 0.269 DH / T / Km

With regard to insurance, in case of loss of the goods ONCF shall reimburse 70 DH / kg. This insurance is included in the price above. If the interested party wishes, they can insure the totality of the goods at a premium of 0.5% of the value of the latter.
