REGULATIONS
Morocco Foodex is an autonomous export control and coordination body, in charge of food export quality control, coordination, promotion and strategic operational monitoring.
It operates in three main industries:
- Fresh fruit and vegetables (citrus fruits, tomatoes, red fruits, avocados and other market garden produce).
- Processed vegetable products (canned, dried or frozen fruit and vegetables, olive oil, argan oil, cereals, pulses, spices, herbs, etc.).
- Fishery products (fresh fish, canned fish, etc.)
Morocco’s national standards body ( IMANOR ) aims to help Moroccan companies adapt to international standards and market demands, by providing them with standards and conformity certification processes, as well as the necessary information, guidance and training.
IMANOR’s policy revolves around the following axes:
- Developing market-relevant standards that are useful for public policies.
- Allowing Moroccan companies to obtain, under optimum conditions, all certifications needed to boost their competitiveness in their target markets.
- Helping the economic fabric better understand standards by providing targeted and satisfactory training.
- Facilitating economic operators’ access to information on standards and related activities.
- Providing the guarantees needed to establish itself as a reliable partner in its fields of activity.
The National Office of Food Safety ( ONSSA ) is a public institution responsible for preserving the health of animals and plants, the safety of food products, including fishery products and animal feed, as well as the conformity of foodstuffs imported into Morocco. ONSSA is the primary point of contact for operators, consumers and international partners in the field of food safety.
Its creation was motivated by three main objectives:
- Guaranteeing food safety.
- Improving agricultural and agri-food products competitiveness.
- Increasing consumer protection.
The Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property ( OMPIC ) is the organisation in charge of protecting industrial property (trademarks, patents, industrial designs) and maintaining the central trade register in Morocco.
